What you need to know

  • Apple is holding an event on April 20.
  • A Weibo source has shared images allegedly showing Apple's new AirPods.
  • The source also says Apple may release a new Apple Pencil alongside its new iPad Pro.

New images leaked on Weibo could show Apple's new AirPods for 2021, suggesting they could debut alongside a new iPad Pro and possibly even a new Apple Pencil.

Spotted by 9to5Mac the leak shows a picture of what could be Apple's new AirPods, along with the caption "3 suspected AirPods picture, I heard that Apple is also preparing to release the third generation of Apple Pencil, you can look forward".

The iPad Pro is all-but-guaranteed to be unveiled at Apple's April event next week, and we can expect the update to include a new A14 processor as well as a Thunderbolt port and a mini-LED display. Apple has previously released new iterations of the Apple Pencil alongside its iPad Pro, such as in 2018. With that in mind, it makes perfect sense a new Apple Pencil could be unveiled next week.

Previously, images have shown a new Apple Pencil, but the pictures haven't given much away. However, one rumor has previously suggested it may come in black as well as the standard white.

We have also heard a lot of rumors about Apple's rumored new AirPods, which are expected to adopt the design of the AirPods Pro without the noise-canceling technology. This new post clearly says "Apple is also preparing to release" its Apple Pencil, implying it will accompany the release of AirPods 3 and hinting that the product could be released next week.

Apple's 'Spring Loaded' April event will take place on Tuesday, April 20 at 10 am PT. As mentioned, it seems we can definitely expect a new iPad Pro, but we might also get Apple's long-rumored AirTags, new AirPods, and maybe even a new iMac.
