Wondering what past Pokémon Go Seasons looked like? Here are the highlights:

  • March 1, 2022 through June 1, 2022: Season of Alola: the sixth Pokémon Go season focused on the Alola region of Gen VII, exploring each of the four islands and encountering the Guardian Deities of Alola. The season featured limited Special Research lines focused on each island leading up to Pokémon Go Fest 2022. Seasonal events included the Festival of Colors, Spring into Spring, A Mega Moment, and more. And just when players thought the Alolan fun had concluded, Nihilego appeared through Ultra Wormholes during Pokémon Go Fest, promising more Gen VII excitement to come in the form of Ultra Beasts.
  • December 1, 2021 through March 1, 2022: Season of Heritage: the fifth Pokémon Go season focused on the past, with the discovery of a Mysterious Door that Professor Willow discovered. Trainers helped the professor all season long to unlock the door, but at the very end, Team GO Rocket beat them to the punch and stole the Apex Ho-Oh and Apex Lugia from behind the door during the Pokémon Go Tour: Johto. The Pokémon Go Tour Johto also unlocked the remaining Gen II Shiny Pokémon, as well as provided players with the chance to catch, trade, hatch, or evolve every single Gen II Pokémon in a single day.
  • September 1, 2021 through December 1, 2021: Season of Mischief: the fourth Pokémon Go Season focused on Hoopa, after the Mythical Pokémon made a suprprise appearance at the end of the previous season. Trainers were able to complete a Season long Special Research to catch Hoopa and another Special Research to unlock Hoopa's ability to change forms. Speaking of which, form changing made its Pokémon Go debut during the Fashion Week event with the introduction of Furfrou. The Psychic Spectacular returned, as did Halloween, and holiday events for both Dia de Muertos and Diwali expanded to include the entire world. Team GO Rocket returned, with Giovanni having captured Shadow Lugia, and players were treated to an event to celebrate the release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl.
  • June 1, 2021 through September 1, 2021: Season of Discovery: the third Pokémon Go Season focused on Pokémon Go's fifth anniversary and Pokémon Go Fest 2021. The Regi Trio returned, along with fun new Avatar Style items themed off the titans. The global Pokémon Go fest 2021 brought back every single Legendary Pokémon for a full day of Raids, and players were rewarded with three Ultra Unlock events, including the introduction of Zacian and Zamazenta, thanks to Hoopa's mischief.
  • March 1, 2021 through June 1, 2021: Season of Legends: the second Pokémon Go Season celebrated Legendary Pokémon and featured tons of Raids. This Season kicked off with the Forces of Nature trio and double trouble from Team GO Rocket. The Kalos region continued to make its way into Pokémon Go with Xerneas and Yveltal starring in the Luminous Legends X and Luminous Legends Y events and bringing an end to the Season.
  • December 1, 2020 through March1, 2021: Season of Celebration: the first Pokémon Go Season celebrated each of the regions in the Pokémon world, as well as introduced the Kalos region to Pokémon Go. The Go Beyond update was highlighted, along with the expansion of the Pokémon Go Battle League. The Season of Celebration wrapped up with the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event, Kanto Celebration, and the 25th anniversary of Pokémon.
