What you need to know

  • Apple has reopened its stores in the state of Michigan.
  • The stores were temporarily closed due to a surge in COVID-19 cases.

All of the Apple Stores in Michigan in the United States are open once again.

Spotted by 9to5Mac's Michael Steeber yesterday, Apple had updated its store pages to inform customers that the stores would be reopening today. As pointed out by Steeber, it appears that all of them are currently operating as Express Storefronts, meaning that customers can make a quick purchase or pickup at the front of the store but will not be able to enter.

"All Michigan Apple Stores open… Tomorrow morning! That was sudden. It looks like they'll be Express storefronts again for now."

Apple had announced the temporary closure of all of its Apple Stores in Michigan back in April. The closures were due to a spike in COVID-19 cases that were sweeping the state at the time. The company did say at the time that it planned to reopen the stores "as soon as possible."

Customers with existing orders or items to pick up can still visit the stores throughout the weekend, a company spokesperson said. They would not confirm how long the closures will last, just saying they hope to reopen "as soon as possible."No other Apple stores are closed in any other states, the spokesperson said. Apple did close stores last March and at other points throughout the pandemic due to local COVID-19 conditions, the spokesperson said.

Thankfully, those closures seem to have only lasted a month and customers will be able to visit the following stores again in some capacity:

  • Apple Briarwood in Ann Arbor
  • Apple Partridge Creek in Clinton Township
  • Apple Woodland in Grand Rapids
  • Apple Eastwood Towne Center in Lansing
  • Apple Twelve Oaks in Novi
  • Apple Somerset in Troy

If you live in Michigan, your favorite Apple Store probably just reopened! But of course, please check your store's page for more information so you can visit safely. You can do so on Apple's website or the Apple Store app.
