Can my phone play Pokémon Unite?

Best answer: In addition to releasing on Nintendo Switch, Pokémon Unite is available on compatible iOS and Android phones. iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch players will need iOS 10.0 or later. The specific requirements for Android have not been listed yet. However, similar games usually require Android 5.0 or later.

Pokémon Unite phone requirements

iOS requirements

  • iPhone Compatibility: iOS 10.0 or later
  • iPad Compatibility: iOS 10.0 or later
  • iPod touch Compatibility: iOS 10.0 or later
  • Size: 810.5 MB
  • Price: Free

Android requirements

Neither The Pokémon Company nor the Google Play store has officially revealed Android phone requirements as of yet, but simply state that compatibility and size "vary by device." However, if other mobile games are anything to go by, we expect you'll need Android 5.0 or later. We'll update when more is revealed.

Cross-platform fun

Although the Pokémon Unite regional beta launch was limited to Android devices, Pokémon Unite supports cross-platform play. When the game is launched publicly, you should be able to play with friends regardless of what device everyone is using. It will be a free-to-play game, so expect in-app purchases.

This multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) was announced back in February 2020 by the same company behind Pokémon Go.

Stronger together

Unlike many other Pokémon games, Pokémon Unite focuses on teamwork as an important component. From catching and evolving wild Pokémon to defeating your opponents in 5-on-5 team battles, you work with your fellow Trainers to do everything in this game. As a team of five, you have a lot of strategy options for battle, including flanking the opposition or using decoys while other teammates sneak around to the opponent base and score more points.

The current Pokémon Unite roster is filled with favorite characters to choose from, and this list will likely grow as time goes on.

All in this together

Have fun battling with a team of five Pokémon, whether you're playing on your Nintendo Switch, iPhone, iPad, Android phone, or tablet. This is just the start for Pokémon Unite, so we're excited to see where it goes as time passes.
